Hot Springs Village Amateur Radio Club

Club History

George MacDonald, KC9S and his wife Jane moved into Hot Springs Village in 1984 from the Chicago area where he had lived and worked, during his career.  After several years of participation in the Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club, he and a number of other amateurs living in the village decided to look into the idea of forming a village radio club.  They had been meeting informally for breakfast at Mary Lee’s Restaurant on a weekly basis.  The first organizational meeting was held at the Cortez Pavillion on June 1, 1990.  Annual dues were set at $10.  The first slate of officers elected to office was:

  • George MacDonald, KC9S, President
  • Louis Siebert, N0ELI, Vice President
  • Don Thibault, W0GY, Secretary
  • Tom Bjorn, WA9LBU, Treasurer.
